One of the most enjoyable food programmes on Irish TV – Neven’s Irish Seafood Trails – is back on TV screens this Wednesday.

Neven Maguire (still no relation) is back with a seven-part series covering Cork, Clare, Waterford, Donegal, Wexford and more.

The viewing in 2018 was as educating as it was entertaining and by all accounts, this season should be along the same lines.

Neven is back in the New Year with a brand new series of his popular Neven’s Irish Seafood Trails.

East Cork & Ballycotton

The first programme airs this Wednesday evening at 8.30pm and explores Ballycotton and the surrounds of east Cork.

There’s a mackerel fishing trip, the art of hand-line fishing is explored and keeping with fish, Ballycotton Seafood (pictured above) is paid a visit.

The featured restaurant is Kevin Aherne’s Sage where he’ll be cooking up haddock carpaccio, while Neven’s own recipe for the week is a seafood chowder.

If you’re planning to put more fish on your own menu this year, this seems a pretty good place to pick up some inspiration.

Neven’s Irish Seafood Trails continues Wednesday nights on RTÉ One with catchup available via the RTÉ Player.

Watch: Sligo Seafood Special

Granted, if you’ve no idea what I’m talking about or didn’t now the series existed, take a watch of the Sligo episode from last year’s run.
