If you’re looking for things to do on the food front, here’s some food events in Ireland in January.

The first month of the year tends to be a quiet one in terms of large scale events. There will be plenty of classes, tastings and demos happening around the country, but for some of the bigger days I’ve picked out a few events for you.

January 2019 Food Events in Ireland

  • January 11: Bord Bia Meat Markets Seminar, Naas
  • January 14:Flavours of New Zealand Wine Event, Dublin
  • January 22: Bord Bia Small Business Seminar, Portlaoise
  • January 24-27:Vegan Foodie Festival 2, Dublin

Bord Bia are running two events this month – a meat markets seminar at the Killashee House Hotel in Naas and a Small Business Seminar at the Midlands Hotel in Portlaoise.

The Meat Market Seminar will be looking at things like opportunities for Irish meat in south-east Asia, the long term outlook for meat in Ireland and the impact of Brexit for meat importers.

The small business open day on 22 January provides small food and drink companies the opportunity to gain insight into the current trading environment, consumer attitudes and behaviour from Bord Bia and industry experts. With March looming, there’ll be plenty of Brexit conversation before the day is out. It’s also a free event.

A taste (sip) of New Zealand

For the 22nd year running, New Zealand Wine is hosting its Flavours of New Zealand wine tasting event where you can meet some of the world’s best known wineries and try more than 150 kiwi wines.

They’re hosting two sessions, one for the drinks industry wine trade from 2pm – 6pm and another for the general public from 6.30pm – 8.30pm on Monday 14th January 2019.

I’ve written previously about the Vegan Foodie Festival in Dublin and it’s all set for the end of the month.

If you’re in the food game and looking for basic food training (HACCP), the next day’s training takes place at HACCP Ireland on Thursday 31 January in Newbridge.
