Borrowing from the lyrics of Eminem’s 2002 release Lose Yourself, opportunities come once in a lifetime.
Dubbed ‘master and apprentice’, for one night only, master chef Guillaume Lebrun of the two Michelin star Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud will make way for the Michelin star Lady Helen restaurant at Mount Juliet Estate in Kilkenny to link up with former apprentice, chef John Kelly.

It’s the first time that Lebrun will have collaborated with another chef in Ireland since the inception of Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud over 40 years ago. Together, they’re set to treat diners to a rare menu anchored in classical French cooking techniques, all tied up in a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Hence the Eminem reference at the outset.
Wine and coffee are high on the agenda with too with the Lady Helen’s sommelier Jean Baptise (having returned to Mount Juliet after a year working in Bora Bora), has paired the menu for the night with a selection of exceptional wines from both established and artisan producers. The collaboration is being made possible by Nespresso, so it’s no surprise to read the desserts on the night have been paired with the Nespresso professional Brazil organic coffee.
The tasting menu for the night is €175pp with wine pairing or available as part of an overnight package, including breakfast, from €350pp.
Reservations are a must and I’ll hazard they’ll fly. Find out how to book and read more here.
