Kilkenny Christmas Traditions

There are plenty of Kilkenny Christmas Traditions.

Mine, a cheese and onion Tayto sandwich as the first thing to pass my lips on Christmas morning, regardless of the hour. Somehow, that didn’t make the book.

But over 50 other recipes have made the cut for Kilkenny Christmas Traditions, a digital publication featuring Kilkenny chefs and food producers, dropping nicely in time for Christmas.

You’ll find seasonal starters like chestnut, parsnip and bacon soup or baked cranberry and almond feta tart. From the mains you could try Cathal O’Dowd’s Braised Feather Blade of Irish Beef or the Spiced Roast Christmas Goose courtesy of Butler House.

There’s a cheesy celeriac, leek and rosemary gratin among the sides while one of the stars of the Kilkenny food scene in 2019, Arán have their Bread Pudding in the desserts section.

It’s a lovely initiative bringing together some great recipes and local that you should grab while you can.
