For fans of Carlow’s Caffé500, the wait can’t be much longer for their Kilkenny restaurant to open.
Marco and Luca have operated Caffé500 in Carlow for the past seven or eight years and teased the opening for their second restaurant, smack bang on The Parade in Kilkeny last October with the hope of getting the doors open in December. Previous occupiers of 1 High Street include the short-lived Tiempo tapas bar along with Willoughby’s café before that.
The pizza oven (pictured here on the left behind the window) has been installed a number of weeks now but with signage on the Ormonde Steet and High Street sides, plus the covers coming off the windows to allow a look inside, the wait shouldn’t be much more for Kilkenny’s latest Italian restaurant and pizzeria. Granted, I had only spotted the signs on a walk through town earlier today so they may be up a few days.
Caffé500s’ Kennedy St. location in Carlow has gone from strength to strength, coming out the far side, and with a location like 1 High Street, hopes are high for the new arrival. When the doors open, it will be the second restaurant close to The Parade to have extended out of Carlow with Turkish eatery Anatolia on Rose Inn Street (formerly Café 22) having its roots in Bagenalstown.
While I can’t give you an opening date, I can point you in the direction of their Facebook and Instagram accounts that will keep you posted.
