If you’ve been wondering when the 2024 Michelin stars will be announced for restaurants in Ireland, you’re in luck – they’re not that far away.
As revealed in December, the 2024 awards will be unveiled in person at Manchester’s Midland Hotel on the St. Brigid’s Day bank holiday, Monday 5 February. On the Kilkenny front, we’re all hopeful of seeing Campagne and the Lady Helen retain their Michelin stars for an 11th year while there will be many more eyes around the country hoping to see a potential upgrade on some restaurants, with Ireland still chasing that elusive three-star status.
The event on 5 February will announce the restaurant selection for The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland, along with the Green Stars which recognise pioneers in the field of sustainable gastronomy, along with a range of special awards celebrating outstanding industry professionals.
Last year on the Irish front saw a first-ever star Terre at Castlemartyr while Baltimore’s Dede made the jump from one star to two star, joining Chapter One, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, Liath and the Aimsir before the departure of chef patron Jordan Bailey. Others on the list for 2023 included Aniar (Galway), Bastible (Dublin), Bastion (Kinsale), Campagne (Kilkenny), Chestnut (Ballydehob), Glovers Alley (Dublin), Lady Helen (Kilkenny), The House (Ardmore), Ichigo Iche (Cork), The Oak Room (Adare), Variety Jones (Dublin), Wild Honey Inn (Lisdoonvarna).
In the north, Belfast also plays home to three Michelin star eateries – Eipic, The Muddlers Club and Ox. Due to closure, Galway’s Loam was the only holder last year to drop off the list.
