There will be no Michelin Guide unveil for restaurants and eateries in Ireland and UK next month.
Traditionally held in October, the 2021 guide will instead be unveiled on 25 January, 2021 at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
For the strong Irish contingent that usually travel, hopefully there’ll be some better news in terms of travel and restrictions between Ireland and the UK but failing that, there’s always the live stream to look forward to.
With Covid restrictions in mind, the forthcoming guide will be digital-only. The delay grants extra time for judges and inspectors to get out and about, while also allowing restaurants time to get back on their feet and adjusted to the current climate.
The 2020 guide (unveiled October 2019) saw Kildare’s Aimsir enter the guide with a 2* rating. The Greenhouse in Dublin also picked up a second star, giving Ireland three 2-star restaurants.
The Oak Room at Adare Manor, Bastion (Kinsale) and Variety Jones (Dublin) were among last year’s newcomers for Irish entries.
Details surrounding access to the reveal event won’t be known until much closer to January.
