The win for Rory also marked a double on the night for publisher Gill Books who released Philly McMahon’s The Choice (with Niall Kelly) which scooped Sport Book of the Year.
The overall Cookbook of the Year shortlist had also featured Niall Murphy’s The Cookery School, Donnybrook Fair, Neven Maguire’s Perfect Irish Christmas, Home Baking by Rachel Allen, Roz Purcell’s Half Hour Hero and Lynda Booth’s (Dublin Cookery School) Fearless Food.
Published in September of this year, Cook Well Eat Well contains the recipes from Rory’s popular RTE TV show, How to Cook Well, and focuses on seasonal, balanced three-course meals for elegant eating and entertaining.
Recipes are divided by season and include Beetroot and Autumn Raspberries with Honey, Mint and Labna; Sashimi of Mackerel with Crisped Radishes and Scallions; Roast Hazelnut Panna Cotta with Chocolate and Caramel Sauce and Duck Leg Curry with Cider Vinegar.
Every season also includes a menu for entertaining a large group of people – from a summer alfresco lunch to a Christmas feast, handy for this time of year.
While above links will take you through to Amazon for some online shopping, the RRP from Gill is €24.99 with copies available in all good book stores around the country.
