In what may be regarded as the best news since sliced bread for lovers of the fare at Kilkenny’s award-winning Arán on Barrack Street, breads and pastries are going seven days a week.
Starting on 20 May (says he who recorded the radio ads for it earlier in the week), the bakery and deli (opposite the main restaurant on Barrack Street) will now open on Mondays and Tuesdays across the summer, meaning you can get your fix of breaded goodies from Arán any day of the week.
The deli and bakery operate will now operate from 7am to 3pm daily while the restaurant continues from 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, opening from 9am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They’ve also been flying with the deals recently including
- Pair any coffee and any sandwich for €9.99 on Wednesday
- Bring your own cup on a Thursday, buy any pastry and get a free fill of coffee
- Sunday has been dubbed ‘Family Day’ where you can get any two breads plus four pastries for €20
Considering my last Saturday or Sunday visit saw me walk away €30 worth of pastries, going seven days a week could be dangerous on the wallet, though if you’re in the mood for a sourdough fix after the weekend, it’s a total bonus.
