If you’re a craft beer lover, you’re in for a treat in Kilkenny this weekend.
Sullivan’s Taproom on John Street, home of the soon-to-be-completed Sullivans brewery in the heart of Kilkenny city is opening its doors and taps this Friday and Saturday night for the 2024 running of the Kilkenny Beer Festival, a two-day affair celebrating some of the finest craft brewers in Ireland and beyond.
Among the brewers this year are
- Sullivan’s Brewing Company (as hosts)
- To Øl (Denmark)
- Dead Centre Brewing (Athlone)
- Hopfully Brewing Co. (Dublin)
- Ballykilcavan Brewery (Stradbally)
- Wicklow Wolf
- Lineman (Dublin)
- Third Barrel (Dublin)
- Wide Street Brewing Co. (Ballymahon)
- O’Hara’s (Carlow)
Proceedings get underway on this Friday 17 May at 5pm, running until 10pm, with Saturday running 12pm-10pm. In all, nine guest breweries will be taking part, giving you a chance to ‘meet the brains behind the brews’, munch until 9pm each night with pizzas and other menu offerings from the Taproom, and more.
It’s a dog-friendly event with children welcome on site on Saturday until 5pm.
Most importantly, it’s free entry with live musicians and DJs providing the entertainment across both days. Keep an eye on Sullivan’s Instagram account for more details.
