Did I tell you I started a newsletter last year and that it’s called The Week In Food.
Not only that, but I managed to make the entire way through 2024 with one edition published each weekend, bringing readers a roundup of stories making headlines on the Irish food scene and beyond.

Arriving – typically – around 7am, each edition of The Week In Food comes with five stories that have caught me eye over the week, each with supporting links to source news stories. You’ll also find additional long reads, often topical or suggested content that tweaks my general food interest. On the cooking front, you’ll find five themed recipes plucked from bookmarks, recommendations and menu research for the house for the week while you’ll be able to get cooking to the backdrop of a weekly podcast pick.
Quick math, the past year has seen me share over 500 stories from Ireland and beyond, suggest over 250 recipes, some 50+ podcasts and more.
A labour of love for sure, it’s something of a departure from the blog content and I really look forward to putting it all together and sending it out on Sunday mornings. Sure enough, the odd one has gone down to the wire, depending on whether I’ve been wining or dining the night previous with some editions crafted from hotel bedrooms in Galway, Sligo and other far-flung Irish destinations.
If you’re looking for some new food reads, with content you won’t find here on the blog, then consider a free subscription to The Week In Food. You’ll get one email newsletter into your inbox (or Substack app if that’s your poison), timed nicely for your first coffee of a Sunday morning. Or the very least, my first.
So go ahead, do yourself (and me) a favour, and add your name to the growing list of subscribers to The Week In Food.
