Organisers of the Tralee Food Festival are keeping optimistic amid the Covid-19 pandemic in Ireland, opting to proceed with this year’s festival when the time is right.
Today they’ve released a statement about the 2020 festival which was due in just under a month’s time.
Statement on Tralee Food Festival 2020
“In these uncertain times when we do the right thing for the good of community, we look forward with optimism to re-awakening Tralee from its slumber. While many events and festivals have already been cancelled for 2020, the committee of Tralee Food Festival is steadfast that the town needs something to look forward to.
“We want to thank our supporters and sponsors over the past number of years for their ongoing help in growing the Tralee Food Festival and we will be looking for their commitment to continuing their support of the festival into the future.
“Small businesses, in particular hotels, local shops, pubs, restaurants and local food producers will need our support more than ever. Let’s answer Tralee’s call and help kick-start these businesses, when our community comes out of its cocoon, our healthcare and frontline friends will need to unwind, and our town and its great spirit will be greater than ever before.
So, it is with this thought that the committee of Tralee Food Festival is staking claim.
“The Food Festival will happen, but only when the time is right. We are not cancelling our festival; we are just putting our plans ‘on ice’.When the time is right, when sanctions are lifted and collectively the nation is allowed to meet again, when the guidance from Government permits… then, whenever that may be in 2020, we will host the Tralee Food Festival, and we want this to be part of a greater celebration, a Tralee Day!
“We want Tralee Food Festival to be held as part of the great celebration of all that is good about Tralee, a celebration of all that we will have missed during the year.
“In the meantime, stay positive, stay healthy, look after each other and know that we will get this together.
