The Week In Food

Do you like reading stories about food?

If so, I’ve got the right newsletter for you. It’s free, weekly, packed with highlighted stories from the past week, recipes to try, podcast picks and more, and it’s delivered fresh to your inbox every Sunday morning around 7am.

I mentioned earlier in the year that I was starting a newsletter to accompany the blog and podcast and this week, I’m heading for the seventh straight week of publishing. For someone who has dabbled in newsletters previously, I’ll openly admit that this has been my longest streak. Maybe it’s the reminder emails from Substack that keep me going like “you’ve got 2 days to hit your publishing goals” or a little nod that told me my five-week streak was “longer than 65% of writers”, putting me in the “top 35% of publishers”.

Getting the first subscriber was great. Getting to double figures was even better again. And it will grow, no doubt. Like anything else worth doing in the long run, it takes time, it takes consistency, and I’m having fun finding my way.

What initially started as the written version of the Food In 5 Minutes element of the Ken On Food podcast has grown legs over the past month and morphed into The Week In Food, something more reflective of the content. Yes, there’s a crossover in that you get some details and links based on the stories mentioned in the podcast. Still, it’s bolstered with more reading bookmarked from across the week, links to what I’ve been listening to on the podcast front and some recipe suggestions to try if you’re struggling in the kitchen or looking to shake things up over the week ahead.

While there’s a lot you’ll pay for on Substack, this end of things is free to read. And if you don’t get to it on Sunday, it’s just as fresh on Monday, Tuesday or any stage of the week.
