Once upon a time a haven of cheese, nowadays a rural coffee-and-cake delight, Kilkenny’s Knockdrinna have launched a vegetable box service from their Stoneyford café.
Per their website, “Indulge in the freshest, locally grown produce with our Knockdrinna Vegetable Box. Every week, we curate a selection of our finest vegetables, all harvested directly from the rich soils of Knockdrinna Farm.”
The produce is seasonal, all grown on the Knockdrinna farm, with boxes available in two sizes – small (5-6 items) and large (10-12 items).
Small boxes will set you back €15 while large boxes are €30. While a delivery service isn’t available, boxes ordered in advance either through the cafe or website can be collected from the cafe on Friday mornings.
At time of writing, the large box (€30 option) contains potatoes, onions, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, beetroot, cabbage, kale, chard, baby courgettes and salad leaves, with grapes from their geodome set for inclusion in a few weeks time. The small box (€15 option) contains potatoes, onions, carrots and a selection of vegetables found in the large box. With the boxes being kept seasonal, it won’t be too long before you’re finding french beans, romanesco, celeriac, parsnips, red cabbage and more.
