The 34th annual Gold Medal Awards, this year sponsored by Virgin Media Business, have come and gone with a number of Kilkenny hotels collecting top honours.
Held at The Galmont Hotel, the awards aim to recognise and reward excellence in hospitality and catering operations across Ireland. They are judged by industry experts.
Among the winners on Tuesday night in Galway were Kilkenny’s Newpark Hotel on the Castlecomer Road where they were named gold winner for Ireland’s Family Friendly Hotel, seeing off competition from a favourite of ours at home in Amber Springs (Gorey) and Sligo Park Hotel (Sligo).
The Michelin-starred Lady Helen at Mount Juliet Estate picked up gold for Ireland’s Five Star Dining Hotel Restaurant with Mount Juliet also scooping gold for Ireland’s Grand Wedding Hotel. The Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel was a silver winner in Ireland’s Hotel Casual Dining Experience category.
Limerick’s Adare Manor took home the gold award for Ireland’s Five Star Resort while Castle Leslie Estate in Monaghan was named Ireland’s Favourite Place to Stay. The five-star Europe Hotel & Resort in Killarney was named Supreme Winner on the night.
