Ireland’s list of Bib Gourmand restaurants continues to grow with five more on the island added for 2020.
Overall, four went to Irish restaurants with a fifth in the North.
The Bib Gourmand (as opposed to the Michelin star) highlights restaurants offering ‘good quality, good value cooking’. For three courses, there’s a price cap of €40 in Ireland or £30 in the UK.
Bib Gourmand 2020: Who’s in?
So, the four new Irish entries are split between Dublin, Athlone and Dingle. Co. Down also represents a new addition for Northern Ireland.
In Dublin, the guide welcomes Uno Mas in Dublin 2 along with Circa in Terenure.
For the Kingdom, Land to Sea makes the cut for 2020 while Thyme in Athlone makes a return. Balloo House in Killinchy, Co. Down, is the sole addition for Northern Ireland.
Sometimes, you’ll see it as a stepping stone on to a Michelin star – case in point this year for Bastion in Kinsale.
